The paint or stain finish applied to the Dempsey product range is of an exceptionally high standard. Each timber product undergoes a 4 step finishing process. The assembled product is treated to protect endgrains from moisture ingress. A base coat is applied by flow coater and two top coats are applied to the correct micron thickness by our factory controlled spray line.

Our paint system protects the wood in three ways:

1. It protects the wood from harmful ultra-violet rays which can cause graying and coursing of the wood.
2. It protects the wood from water ingress, and being microporous allows excess moisture to escape.
3. It is flexible and it can therefore expand and contract naturally with the timber.

The benefits of factory finishing as opposed to finishing the product on site are many, some of which are;

We are please to announce we have added Dempsey Dyer’s new Accoya timber to compliment the traditional hardwood and larch range. Accoya timber has been under development by leading research institutes across the globe since 1928. It is now commercially available and living up to billing of exceptional performance.

Quite simply, these are the best timber windows money can buy. Without costing the earth.

Specifically designed to be installed in exposed areas the Accoya range performs well in any aspect and while the Accoya range does come at a premium over traditional hardwoods it boasts the follows features:

Minimum 60 year life expectancy backed by Building Research Establishment and Supported with a 50 year guarantee.

Exceptional Coatings Performance
Up to 12 years for an opaque (paint), fully factory applied coating system to first brush applied planned maintenance, and up to 10 years for translucent (stains).

Stability
Accoya is guaranteed to shrink and swell less than any other joinery timber – making windows and doors open effortlessly all year round.

Complete protection
Accoya wood modification process is all the way through to the core of the timber. No problems with machining.

Eliminates Resin

100% Non-Toxic
Accoya is non-toxin. The only additional to Accoya is naturally occurring acetyl groups. Pine has 2%, Oak has 4% and Accoya has 20%.

Accoya achieves the highest possible British Standard durability rating.
