Condensation
All air contains some water in the
form of vapour which, unlike the steam
from a kettle, cannot be seen or felt.
When damp air comes into contact with

At Lifestyle we believe
in providing in the best quality UPVC
and PVCU double glazing window installations
or replacement sash glazing we can to
your home. That is not simply a throwaway
statement; we are a small family-run business
that relies on its reputation to obtain
more custom. Most of the business we get
comes through recommendation, not large-scale
advertising campaigns, and therefore we
truly do hold the quality of the work
we do, whether full UPVC or PVCU refurbishment
or minor replacement of a sash, as of
the highest priority.
We also strongly believe
that our range can rival any other window
company, which means, combined with the
variety of decorative glass we supply,
we can rise to any challenge, be it a
simple replacement PVCU, UPVC, sash or
other window or the refurbishment of all
those in a house. The types of window
we supply are UPVC and PVCU (between which
there is a minor difference) and double
glazing comes as standard, for new installations,
sash replacement jobs or otherwise.
As we all know well, of
major concern with any new or replacement
installation in the home is security (for
which there is an issue with UPVC sash
windows, see below). At Lifestyle we work
hard to provide the best, most secure
double glazing and UPVC we can and use
the latest technologies available to us
to make sure this is done. We have put
a great deal of thought into our window
specification and the double glazing we
provide for new or replacement installation,
supplying you with the most secure UPVC
sash and other windows and double glazing
available. Firstly, all are internally
beaded, meaning they cannot be removed
from the outside and so the window cannot
be de-glazed allowing quick and quiet
access to the property. Secondly, they
all have several locking points that engage
when the window is closed. Another feature
we offer is that of laminate glazing,
the type of glazing used for shop windows,
which can be optioned for conservatories
free of charge (with only a minor charge
for UPVC window replacement). Finally,
an area that is often overlooked is reinforcing.
Many companies supply only partially reinforced
windows, however all our UPVC, PVCU sash
and other types of windows are fully reinforced
as standard, which provides multiple benefits
(see the security
section of this website for more information…)
With modern advances in
technology it is now possible to recreate,
or design for replacement, the original
sliding sash windows that are popular
among town houses, which were originally
wooden, but which can now be done in UPVC
or PVCU. However, as a sliding sash is
very complicated to manufacture they have
to be ordered from specialist manufacturers.
This, of course, has an impact on the
price of the sash, but if you are trying
to create a certain feel and look to your
home then sash windows, or replacement
sash windows may well be the way to go.
Replacement sash windows have to conform
to several building regulations, such
as having to have toughened safety glass
and possible change of design to first
floor replacement UPVC sash windows as
a sash is no longer sufficient as a fire
escape. However, the professionals here
at Lifestyle will be able to guide you
through any difficult decisions you have
to make along the way with detached, objective
advice whether you are simply having a
replacement sash or a whole new UPVC installation.
We have never believed
in high-pressure sales tactics to sell
you replacement sash or new UPVC windows
and doors and will not push salesmen onto
you. Instead we only send our home surveyors,
who will simply look at the proposed work
and talk about the design, products and
other features available, such as DIY
installation or the viability of replacement
or installing a UPVC sash window. We have
always believed it is important to forward
a written quotation after home surveying
with all the details of the proposed installation
of the UPVC jobs or any replacement or
sliding sash you require.
At Lifestyle we like
to think we provide for every consideration.
One of the more aesthetic considerations
we hold in high regard is that of the
colour and finish of your new or replacement
UPVC windows . Thanks to the many colour
options we offer, you can decide for yourself
the final appearance of your windows (as
well as your doors, conservatory, window
boards, roofline, internal and external
cladding). We offer Brilliant White (which
actually is whiter than white –
this is not just sales speak, compare
the Deceuninck white to any other and
you’ll see the difference immediately),
Mahogany, Light oak, Mahogany or Light
Oak on Brilliant White and a Whole World
of Colours from Decoroc® (a patented
coating system, which allows you to choose
from a large range of RAL colours).
Opening vents in
UPVC windows are not hung on a traditional
pivot hinge that you would see on a timber
window. UPVC windows are hung using a
friction stay style of hinge, which has
several advantages. These are namely that
it can be kept open without additional
support (is it is not on a pivot hinge),
it can be easily cleaned when opened as
all the parts are exposed and it is easier
and safer to escape from in a fire. Furthermore,
if you have small children in the home
a child restrictor hinge can be specified
and we also use tilt and turn hinges (while
many companies still use the original
face fit hinges) which are more attractive
and means there is less need for frame
extensions.
A detail that is
often overlooked is ventilation. Because
modern homes are so well heated and insulated
condensation results and degradation is
often caused to the materials from which
the window is made. We have innovated
window designs to provide better ventilation
to houses for new and replacement windows
to combat this. Also we use window boards
that are scratch, heat and moisture resistant.
This is just one detail from a plethora
of others which need addressing before
making your final decision and which we
make sure will be discussed.
Finally, we also
stock window boards either for replacement
of laminated window boards, softwood window
boards or to cover the existing window
boards. These replacement boards have
the advantage that they can be fitted
without more damage to internal plaster
and decorations and can be matched in
colour and finish to your current PVCU
windows. Furthermore these window boards
complement your PVCU windows with style
and elegance and once installed all they
need to stay in pristine condition is
a wipe with a damp cloth – they’re
virtually maintenance free!
If you have any interest in replacing
any of your current windows with our UPVC
or PVCU windows please do not hesitate
to browse further into the site, where
you will find more information on everything
discussed here and a price list for all
the different sizes, styles and designs
we offer.
