conditioning
“Air conditioning
is the ultimate means of controlling the
climate of a conservatory”
It is no secret that conservatories
get hot, and if they are subject to a
lot of direct sun light very hot. While
there are many ways of maintaining a controlled
environment inside the conservatory non
are as effective as an air conditioning
unit.
The units are fitted into
a prepared opening in the dwarf wall of
the conservatory. When installing a fully
glazed design a section of wall must be
built to house the unit. The unit will
protrude from the rear of the brickwork
by 300 – 400mm.
We use two sizes of air
conditioning unit:
- ACS9: Up to 16m2
- ACS12: Up to 20m2
While the face value of
air conditioning unit is quite high other
options for maintaining a comfortable
room are not required such as roof vents
and the number of opening vents can also
be reduced helping to counterbalance the
cost.
The air conditioning units
do also have a heating facility, although
this is not as powerful as a convection
heater.
The electrical requirement
for an air conditioning unit is that a
new ring main must be installed directly
back to the fuse box. This is then covered
by new building regulation part “P”
covering all domestic electrical work.
In order for the new ring main to be connected
the existing electrics in the property
must first be checked and then brought
up to regulations. In bringing the existing
system up to part “P” there
may be costs involved which are not included
in your quotation. A site visit from our
electrician would be required to confirm
these details.
