| How
windows and doors are manufactured
Here is the manufacturing
process of how the Deceuninck PVCU is
fabricated into window and door frames:
- Order processing inputs
the design into the computer software
- The detailed are then
doubled checked
- The cutting information
is stored and then batch transferred
to hard disk
- A printout copy of the
works order cutting sheet is transferred
to the shop floor along with the hard
disk, the print out will show details
of hinge position, drainage requirements,
handle colours and special hinge requirements
- The hard disk is inputted
into the automated CNC saw – the
information will be batched into cutting
lists (depending on size of batch) which
will optimise the batch order to minimise
the wastage - the bigger the batch order
the bigger the optimisation
- When the profile is
placed on the saw for cutting an independent
arm will extend down to measure imperfections
in the profile down to 0.3mm –
this will help reduce the tolerances
once the frame is welded
- After the profile is
cut the CNC saw prints out a label which
is placed on the saw – this shows
the job reference and where the piece
of profile will be situated in the frame
– the computer print out with
the additional information is then placed
in the top of one of the pieces of profile
so the information is passed down the
production line
- Next the profile goes
into the “prep” area where
the profile routed out for the locking
systems and the steel reinforcing is
fixed into position
- The next stage is to
“V” cut any sections of
profile which will have a transom or
mullion intersected to
- Any reverse butt welded
which is required for the frame now
takes place on a single head welded
just behind the “prep” area
- The pieces of profile
are now ready to be pieced together
and placed in the welder – there
are several different types of welding
machines which are capable of welding
different frames and styles
- After the frames have
been welded together they are allowed
to cool for a short period which will
make it easier to clean the welds
- There are three different
ways in which the welds are cleaned
– all wood-grain frames are hand
cleaned leaving a slightly raised area
– all white frames are grooved,
this happens in two different sorts
of machines, a corner cleaner and a
transom cleaner – the side section
of the reverse butt weld is also cleaned
by hand and a slight raised section
is left – there are small sections
of the frame which are cleaned out with
hand tools and a pencil router
- The frames are now ready
to have the hardware fitted –
hinges, handles, locking systems
- Now the frames are ready
for the quality inspection and delivery
